Question
What do the scholars of Islam say regarding the following matter: can one apply deodorant to the body before making the intention of Iḥrām (the sacred state for Hajj or ꜤUmrah) to avoid body odour?
Answer
Applying perfume or fragrance to the body before making the intention of Iḥrām is a Sunnah and is proven from the blessed practice of the beloved Prophet Therefore, in the above scenario, if a person applies deodorant to the body before making the intention of Iḥrām to avoid odour, it is permissible and correct; in fact, it is ideal.
(Allah Almighty knows best and His Messenger صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْہِ وَ اٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم knows best.)
