Darulifta Ahlesunnat (Dawateislami)
What do the scholars of Islam say regarding the following matter: We have heard that Angel Jibrīl عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم was present in the sacred Court of the Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم 24,000 times. Is this statement correct or not?
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
اَلْجَوَابُ بِعَوْنِ الْمَلِکِ الْوَھَّابِ اَللّٰھُمَّ ھِدَايَةَ الْحَقِّ وَ الصَّوَابِ
Yes, this statement is correct, and the scholars have mentioned in their books that the angel Jibrīl عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم appeared before the Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم 24,000 times. This has been narrated by Imam Aḥmad b. Muhammad b. Abū Bakr al-Qasṭalānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه in his Irshād al-Sārī Sharḥ Sahih Bukhari and Mawāhib al-Ladunniyyah bil Minaḥ al-Muḥammadiyyah, and by Abū ꜤAbdullāh Muhammad b. ꜤAbd al-Bāqī al-Zurqānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه in his Sharh al-Zurqāni Ꜥalā al-Mawāhib al-Ladunniyyah, and by ꜤAllāmah Shams al-Din Muhammad b. Aḥmad al-Khaṭīb رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه in Al-Sirāj al-Munīr, that Jibrīl عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم appeared before the Noble Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَ سَلَّم 24,000 times, before Prophet Adam عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم 12 times, before Prophet Idrīs عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم 4 times, before Prophet Nūḥعَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم 50 times, before Prophet Ibrāhīm عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم 42 times, before Prophet Mūsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم 400 times, and before Prophet ꜤĪsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم 10 times.
It is mentioned in Irshād al-Sārī Sharh Sahih Bukhārī:
” ان جبريل نزل على النبي صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اربعة وعشرين الف مرة، و على آدم اثنتي عشرة مرة، وعلى ادريس اربعًا، و على نوح خمسين، و على ابراهيم اثنتين و اربعين مرة، و على موسى اربعمائة، و على عيسى عشرًا “
Meaning, Jibrīl عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم appeared before the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَ سَلَّم 24،000 times, and before Prophet Adam عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم 12 times, before Prophet Idrīs عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم 4 times, before Prophet Nūḥ عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم 50 times, before Prophet Ibrāhīm عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم42 times, before Prophet Mūsāعَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم 400 times, and before Prophet ꜤĪsā (عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم)10 times. وَ اللہُ اَعْلَمُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ رَسُوْلُہ اَعْلَم صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَ اٰلِہٖ وَ سَلَّم
(Allah Almighty knows best and His Messenger صَلَّى اللہُ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِهٖ وَ سَلَّم knows best.)
